Checkerboard assembly

An automated, nonsequential method of editing a film.

In video editing, checkerboard assembly refers to an automated, nonsequential method of editing a film where the computer records all the edits from the sources currently in use and leaves gaps to be filled later by subsequent reels or tapes.
