Continuous presence

A feature of video conferencing systems that allows all participants to be visible on the screen at the same time.

Continuous presence refers to a feature of video conferencing systems that allows all participants to be visible on the screen at the same time. The continuous presence feature can be contrasted with switched presence teleconferencing systems, where all participants receive the same image, typically that of the person who is actively talking. A continuous presence video feed may appear on a single monitor (in a split-screen mode) or on separate monitors. Modern online conferencing systems (such as Zoom) can operate in continuous as well as in switched presence mode.
