Correlator filter

An audio filter used with certain noise reduction systems to separate and cut out noise from overtones.

A correlator filter is an audio filter used with certain noise reduction systems to separate and cut out noise from overtones. It permits the passage of overtones that it "reads" based on the original tone. When no tone is present, the filter blocks the passage of any extraneous sound (noise) from getting through. Applying a correlator filter has results that are similar to those of a dynamic noise filter.
