György Révész

Hungarian screenwriter and film director.

György Révész (1927-2003) was a Hungarian screenwriter and film director.

Dr. Révész was born to Sándor, a lawyer, and Sarolta Spitz (1895–1952). He studied at the Trade Union Film School from 1945 to 1948. From 1948 to 1950 he a student at the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, and from 1945 to 1950 he was a student of ELTE BTK. From 1946 he worked in the film industry. From 1954 he was director of Mafilm. Between 1954 and 1987 he directed 25 feature films, 13 hours of TV, and many short films, writing numerous screenplays. He won more than 10 festival prizes, including the 1963 Mar del Plata Grand Prix. In 1964 he married Putty Kerényi. They had a son, Gabor (1965).
