Prove It All Night

What does a video do?

What's the number one you need to do to sell or promote yourself or your business to a potential buyer? I'll give you 10 seconds to think about it.

... 3, 2, 1

Got it?

You are correct: Prove yourself. You need to demonstrate to your prospect that your solution, your product, your work 1) can provide verifiable value in the target context, and 2) will deliver on that value with minimal outside investment.

How do you prove yourself on the web? How can you show expertise -- answer questions, demo your skills, etc. -- when you're not physically around? How can you make someone -- a person who you don't know and who doesn't know you -- trust you? How can you explain anything on a web page in such a compelling way that it will grab the user's attention with minimal effort? What media can you use to reach a maximum number of potential customers? And even assuming that you can reach real, valuable prospects: how can you get people to take action quickly enough to avoid having the next distraction shoo them away... for good?

And the answer is... use video.

Whether you like it or not, people don't read books anymore. They don't read blogs either. Unless you can afford to write supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (and extra-relevant) material on a weekly basis, you're wasting your time writing blogs, since your only real readers are search engine bots. Bots don't buy: people do. So what do people -- the regular folks that don't read your blogs but should? They used to wait for the movie. But times have changed, and nowadays they wait for that movie to come out on HBO or Netflix. The short of it is: make your content a movie, or die trying. If you can do that, you'll find a way to your customer's heart and mind.
