How to create a YouTube Video Thumbnail using Gravit Designer

Here's how to create a thumbnail for your YouTube video using Gravit Designer:

Gravit Designer is a browser-based drawing application. It falls in the same general category as Adobe Illustrator. It is very powerful but requires more skills than the typical web-based design application.  Gravit Designer also offers a free tier that is just fine for creating social media resources such as YouTube thumbnails. Simply create an account and you're good to go.

  1. Download this template to your computer and open it from the Gravit app. Alternatively, create a new canvas using the standard thumbnail size: 1280 x 720.
  2. Add elements, copy, colors, fonts, images, and any other element your design might require to the Layer 1 layer.
  3. Review your final design.
  4. Select File > Export > PNG to download the final thumbnail.
